Protector

Elk are the symbol of strength, stamina, protection and virility.

Growing his antlers each year ready for the rut that occurs in Autumn to winter, the male 'bugles' or calls his dominance and also to attract females…whom he will fight for and protect, just like our fellows.

Many thought they were silly creatures because when attacked by predators the herd scatters, but this is actually diversionary as the predators don't know which way they will run, and so unpredictability is key.

Some sub-species are extinct due to over-hunting, whilst others have been successfully reintroduced.

Like humans, sometimes all they need is another chance.
