The Shell

Shell

By Vladimir Kush

The sea, and water, is the prime source of life, a symbol of transformation, cleansing, and resurrection. The spiral form of a shell is symbolic of time: of the cyclic rhythms of the year, the phases of the waning and waxing moon, and the sun itself.
A tight spiral signifies concealed force, a spool of energy. A spiral helix represents the masculine, and a flat spiral, the feminine.
The yin-yang is a type of double spiral. The dark yin is the female; the lightly colored yang is the male. Each half contains a seed of the other, which characterizes the interdependence and harmony of two beginnings
