Key to the Heart

• Many of the artist’s works are devoted to the theme of love.

• Almost all of the artist’s works on this theme are classified in Matrix

of Love.

• The image that most resembles this painting is the Key of Passion, which is the fifth structure shown in Matrix.

The figures of the two lovers are inside the padlock, and the shackle forms a kind of arch or vault over them.

Looking closely, we can see inside the keyhole there is a staircase leading to a certain unseen space. Perhaps the artist had in mind a house or apartment for the lovers.

A keyhole as an entrance is a metaphor already evident in the artist’s older painting, Keys.
