Summoning the Spirits

 

Long ago in a dry and dusty corner of an unnamed desert, the full moon illuminates the village Bruja, the woman of prophesy and magic, as she performs an intense ritual. With a lack of rain, game, and even roots and berries, the people of her small village pleaded with her to contact the spirit ones to find what could be done. She agreed, and unwrapping her sacred spirit bowl, she takes it out into the full moonlight where her familiar, the owl, waits. With intense focus and ancient chants, she charms the spirit guides from the bowl to impart their wisdom through her. The clan survives, and to honor the spirit guides, the elders scratch their images onto the rocks in the valley.
